Northtech convinently shows the weight of their
610XL equipped with higher 30/30 horsepowers against our Standard
XP equipped with standard 25/20 horsepowers. If they would
compare our similar machine the weights would be more similar.

Northtech says that Extrema machines use 3600 RPM motors on our XP-225 and Northtech
uses the 1720 RPM motors. In fact our XP-225 double surfacers use the same
1720 RPM motors as does Northtech. Even if we did use the 3600 rpm motors this
should not be an issue. This is not true statement and an attempt by Northtech
to make their machines look better.

Northtech states that they
use 6 cog type drive belts on their 610XL and Extrema uses
4 standard v belts on the XP-225. The first part of this
statement is deceptive and the second part is just not true.
Extrema uses 5 drive belts on the XP-225 and Northtech does
use 6 belts, but they are comparing it to their higher horsepower
double surfacer. Extrema does not have a higher horsepower
XP-225. This would be very easy to just add more horsepower but we chose to
make a heavier duty series of machine to handle this type of horsepower. It
is our Magnum Series.

Northtech uses cog type belts and Extrema uses standard v-belts. This is correct,
but deceptive. The use of cog type belts is just a gimmick that Northtech
is using to promote their machine. They say that it gives a 60% improvement
which is just not true. In fact Gates Rubber Company technical information
library states that the efficiency of cogged belts over standard belts is
less than 1%, and will just result in an increased cost. This is the reason
Extrema uses standard v-belts. When we design any machine we heavily rely
on “cost
vs benefit” This is only
a gimmick from Northtech with no benefit to the customer. We do use standard
belts. We believe in using as many standard components as possible to lower the
operation cost of our machines and availability of parts for years to come.

Northtech states that their motor pulleys are twice the diameter as the motor
pulley used on the XP-225. Well our motor pulley diameter is a hefty 12”.
Does this mean that Northtech's motor pulley is 24” in diameter. This
is not true. 24” diameter would be the size of a car tire. But anyway
this is just another attempt to make their machine look better.

Northtech says that their bearings are of heavier duty. In fact our bearings
are world reknown SKF brand made in Italy, ZC3 motor grade quality, #6308.
They also state that their cutter head shaft size is larger. They even show
a photo of our shaft being smaller. This is a deceptive act because they
show the end of our shaft that is cut down for a handle and is not the larger
part near the cutter head that the bearings are fit to. Northtech states
that their shaft size is 1.575”. In fact this is the exact same size
as the Extrema XP-225. Our shaft size is also 1.575”
